spread the word!

You may have seen our little fliers around Cincinnati announcing the holiday show on Nov. 20. If you want to help spread the word, we’ve created PDF files of the fliers that you can print out and put wherever you want! (We especially appreciate our fans from further afield who want to spread the word to places we can’t get to.) Click the links below to download the files:

You know our awesome official show posters? The ones we silkscreen by hand before each show? Yeah, those are coming soon. :)

Coming soon: The CCAC Elevator!

clifton cultural arts center elevator

Great news: The Clifton Cultural Arts Center‘s elevator is nearly complete! The ribbon-cutting will be within the next week or two, and it will be fully operable in time for Crafty Supermarket! Accessible buildings = awesome for everybody.

The elevator is housed in that glass tower you see on the left, branded with CCAC. It’s just around the corner from the main entrance we used at the last show. (That’ll still be the main entrance with steps.)

Check out our holiday vendors!

We’ve got the list posted of more than 50 great crafters who will be at our holiday show on Nov. 20!

Remember, the show will be open from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., but the first shoppers of the day will get one of our 100 swag bags of crafty goodies!

send in your swag!

We’ll be giving away 100 swag bags to the first lucky shoppers of the day (and our loyal volunteers). It’s a great way to get the word out about your shop, services or event to a crowd that’s really hip! If you’d like to contribute promo material for your local business or crafty enterprise, please send 100 pieces to us by Nov. 1 to:

Crafty Supermarket c/o Fabricate
4012 Hamilton Ave.
Cincinnati, OH 45223.

Last time, the swag bags included coupons for local businesses, stickers from Buy Olympia, ceramic brooches, magazines, scrapbooking materials, fabric, buttons, business cards and more! People line up hours ahead of the show to get a swag bag—they are that good.

Note: No pornographic, racist, sexist or vulgar materials will be used in the swag bags, and we reserve the right to refuse any materials. Keep it friendly!

seeking a few good volunteers!

Want to be a Crafty Supermarket volunteer? We need people to help out in two-hour shifts on the day of the show (Saturday, Nov. 20, from about 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.), doing things like:

  • greeting shoppers
  • handing out swag bags & programs
  • watching tables for vendors who need to take a break
  • setting up the night before

In exchange, you get one of our legendary swag bags full of free crafty goodies! If you’re interested in helping out, e-mail us at craftysupermarket@gmail.com. We’ll send you more info, and we’ll have a volunteer meeting shortly before the show to get everyone assigned and give you more details.

calling all crafters!

Applications are now open for Crafty Supermarket’s holiday show! It’ll be at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center in Cincinnati on Saturday, Nov. 20, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The table fee is $65 for the day. We’ll provide 8-foot tables and two chairs. If you want to share the table with a friend, include information for both of you in the form, and we’ll judge you as a group.

The deadline to apply is Sept. 15, 2010. We’ll notify you whether you’re accepted by Sept. 25. When you’re accepted, you’ll have until Oct. 1 to pay the $65 table fee. If you don’t submit the table fee by Oct. 1, we’ll offer the space to another crafter.

Click here to apply! Applications are now closed.

FAQ

What kind of crafters are you looking for?

Unconventional crafters, artist-poets, upcycling freaks, hipster types, cutesy makers, punk artists, do-it-yourselfers, bike-cozy crocheters — all y’all are welcome. The most important thing is that you’re selling things you made yourself!

Can I share a table with a friend?

Sure! Just mark that box in the application and include that person’s info. No more than two craft businesses to a table, though!

I sell Avon/OxyClean/other manufactured stuff — can I be in the show?

Nope, sorry. We only deal in the handmade.

Does every crafter who applies get into the show?

Because we receive so many applications, we can only accept a small percentage of people to be vendors. We consider a lot of things in the judging process: price range, quality of work, overall style, and how many vendors are selling similar objects. We can’t offer feedback on whether your crafts will be accepted — check out our last show’s crafter list to get an idea of what kind of stuff we like!

thank you!

THANK YOU for helping the second Crafty Supermarket be such a success! Over the course of the day we had more than 1,500 shoppers at the Clifton Cultural Arts Center.

We couldn’t have done it without all our volunteers, sponsors, Ruth and Erin of the CCAC, the shoppers and most of all the crafters. All 50 of you were amazing, and we’re so glad you were a part of Crafty Supermarket.

Phew! We’re still recovering from all the excitement. If you didn’t make it to the show, or just want to relive it, here’s some video Grace took of the show towards the end as things were winding down.

Announcements coming soon about our next show — stay tuned, and sign up for our newsletter in the upper right hand corner of the blog!
