Crafty Mini-Market: June 10!

Second Sunday on Main is celebrating its seventh season this year, and Crafty Supermarket is stoked to be a part of it! We’re setting up a Crafty Mini-Market at the season’s first Second Sunday on Main on June 10, 2012.Shop with us on Main Street between 13th and Liberty in OTR from noon to 5 p.m.

coming up: the city flea

Coming up this summer is a new, exciting venture that combines indie craft with flea markets and urban thrifting! It’s the City Flea, which will pop up four times in OTR over the next four months.

The City Flea vendors include a lot of folks who will be familiar to Crafty Supermarket shoppers, plus local stores, peddlers of vintage wares and delicious food items! (If you’re a seller of things and want to get involved, check out their vendor page.)

It’s gonna be going down in the parking lot in front of the Cincinnatus mural at the corner of Vine Street and Central Parkway. You can catch the City Flea on four Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. over the summer: June 4, July 9, August 6 and Sept. 3. It’s free for shoppers to attend!

indie wedding expo

The weekend after Crafty Supermarket’s Spring Show, check out love+bash, a “badass wedding expo for alternative brides.” Created by Nikita Gross of Nikita Gross Photography and Jen Pritchard of Your Wedding by Jen, love+bash is the antidote to traditional bridal shows. Along with alternative, green and indie vendors, the show will have music, drinks and a fashion show. (If you’re currently planning your nuptials, definitely check out their wedding giveaway, which includes photography, florals and planning.) You can check out love+bash’s featured vendors here.

upcoming craft shows!

There are a few big craft shows gearing up for this fall in nearby cities as well as here in Cincinnati. All of these indie craft shows are big and within driving distance of Cincinnati, so if you’re into a road trip, you should totally go!

housekeeping and crafty news

Big winner: The winner of the drawing for $200 worth of craft awesomeness from MyCraftivityStore.com was Sara Relojo — congratulations! (jealous!!)

Lost and found: Lost items reported include a brown boy’s wallet, a turquoise stud earring and an iPod/iPhone. Call the CCAC if you found any of these things! Found at the CCAC was one ring — call the office at (513) 497-2860 if you lost one.

Fab fabrics: St. Theresa Textile Trove, an amazing fabric and notion store that used to be in College Hill until it closed earlier this year, is now reincarnated at the Pendleton Art Center! It’s open Tuesdays-Thursdays 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

Upcoming crafty events: The second Summer Celebration in Over-the-Rhine is gonna happen May 22, and the INDIEana Handicraft Exchange in Indianapolis will be June 12.

my trip to the indieana handicraft exchange

I made it out to Indianapolis this weekend for the third annual INDIEana Handicraft Exchange, and was it ever worth it! I’d been to the first one, which was much smaller and in a not-so-great venue, and I was so happy to see how it’s blossomed. There were more than 70 vendors in this multi-level art center.
