MAY IS FOR MAKERS

Hello Cincinnati! We are trying something new by teaming up with our friends Pop Rocket Creations and pivoting the in person Spring edition of Crafty Supermarket into a virtual market promoting makers throughout the month of May. The MAY IS FOR MAKERS promotion will culminate in a virtual shopping experience on May 22 and May 23. Our goal is to keep our favorite makers making and connecting with shoppers until we can be in person again! Our in-person show set for May 23rd has been moved to Saturday, July 11th due to COVID-19. We know you can’t wait that long to see your maker friends so we are going virtual in May to meet you where you are! Check out the vendors and start shopping now!!!

Why promote makers throughout the month of May?

Not only do our makers and artists need our support but we know our shoppers miss these unique vendors so we want to help bring makers and shoppers together virtual! Plus Mother’s Day is just around the corner and spring is a great time to treat yourself to some new threads, home decor, and fill your everyday needs with quality handmade and DIY designed products.

What will the virtual market look like?

We will host the event on Facebook live and Instagram live featuring makers on a rotating schedule. Join us for Crafty Supermarket Virtual Maker Happy Hour on Friday, May 22 from 4pm-8pm and on Saturday, May 23 from 11am-5pm. Through the event shoppers and viewers can tune in to see maker demos, studio tours, cat interviews and more. It’s up to the select makers to create their own content for shoppers to experience. Shoppers can visit the event invite or our website for link to maker shops. We will also feature posts throughout the event showcasing special products and featured artists.

How will you be promoting makers throughout the month of May?

We will have all maker shops linked on our website, create daily and weekly maker spotlights on social media plus select makers will host Instagram takeovers our our IG page throughout the month.

How do I apply for this event?

Vendor spots for the virtual maker events on May 22nd and 23rd and the July 11th in person event are filled through our spring application process that ran through January 15-March 1. Applications for the holiday show will be open July 15-September 1.

What is Pop Rocket Creations? 

Kyle and Melissa are the husband and wife team behind Pop Rocket Creations, a Cincinnati-based dynamic duo of design and photography. Pop Rocket Creations infuses a fun twist on retro in their own kitschy collectibles, and they bring that same zest to visual branding projects with a range of unique clients. They designed an amazing tote for our 10th anniversary holiday show and they were curious about virtual maker experiences so we decided to team together to make this happen! They designed all of the assets for the May is for Maker promotions and the virtual event plus and more to help make this happen. They are awesome and you should probably buy lots of things from them.

Is the event free?

Yes! The event is free for shoppers, just like always.

It’s also free for makers! We are passionate about supporting maker entrepreneurs through this tough time. Most in person shows have been canceled across the country which is a huge blow to our maker community. We want to use this first virtual event to experiment and learn.
