Miss Chief’s offerings include accessories and utilitarian items created from vintage finds, often one-of-a-kind … and affordable! Irreverent and irresistible, they bridge the gap between fine art and the art of the everyday.

With just three weeks left until Crafty Supermarket, it’s high time to better introduce you to our crafters!

Kitsch Café
Drew Steinbrecher, Cincinnati

Inspired by a lifetime love of vintage illustration, housewares, and fabrics, Drew combined a degree in graphic design, 10 years of professional experience and innate style to open Kitsch Café. Providing unique vintage objects and collectibles, as well as handmade accessories and stationery made with vintage fabrics, items are chosen and created to be stylish and memorable and always contain a sense of humor. Located in Cincinnati, the company originally sold only vintage items, adding handmade items in the spring of 2009. Kitsch Café items are found online, and in many local shops and boutiques.

Have you been wondering what, exactly, you’ll find at Crafty Supermarket? Voila! Our 2009 Vendors page is now up, with all the fantastic crafters who’ll be hawking their wares at our show!

Many of the 19 crafters, makers and artisans come from Cincinnati, some are from further away. Some are familiar faces on the indie craft show circuit, others are brand new to it. We’ve got knitters and printers and artists and button-makers, and even an embroiderer.

Check ’em out and start making your shopping list!

wanna get in our swag bags?

The first 50 shoppers at Crafty Supermarket (and our esteemed vendors) will get swag bags full of goodies! If you want to promote your craft business, project or local store, you can send in promotional items or samples to be included in the bags. These can be postcards, business cards, stickers, coupons, flyers, samples or anything else you dream up that’s smaller than a breadbox.

Send in up to 75 (we prefer at least 50) of your item by Nov. 10, and we’ll put it in the swag bags for the lucky shoppers to see! You can mail your stuff to:

my trip to the indieana handicraft exchange

I made it out to Indianapolis this weekend for the third annual INDIEana Handicraft Exchange, and was it ever worth it! I’d been to the first one, which was much smaller and in a not-so-great venue, and I was so happy to see how it’s blossomed. There were more than 70 vendors in this multi-level art center. I don’t know how I managed to not break the bank. Some of my fave sights:

Studio AMF makes these amazing rings out of fine woods—and, yes, that is a real shell embedded in the ring.

Royal Tenenbaums finger puppets by Abbey Christine!

And I scored this gorgeous red totebag from Lindsey Lord—and then I won that cute clutch by her in the raffle! Love!

Application deadline has passed!

Holy crap, what a response! Alisha and I have our work cut out for us, but we will notify all vendor applicants whether they were accepted for Crafty Supermarket by Oct. 10. There is no doubt in our minds that this is going to be a kick-ass craft show.

Gather your thoughts, round up your pix, get your typin’ hat on and submit your work! The deadline is Wednesday, Sept. 30. When the clock strikes 12, we will all turn into pumpkins and fire up the old Excel to start digging in!
