Insider advice

  • Want one of our 100 swag bags? Arrive early! By the time the show starts at 11 a.m., we usually have a good line going. The swag bags will be available from the Elm Street entrance. The first day will have totes with goodies inside and the second day will have totes and posters!
  • If you arrive at the Music Hall Ballroom before the show opens at 11 a.m., please wait in line. The line forms outdoors so come prepared and bring a friend to keep you company! We can’t allow shoppers in the venue until the show officially starts for everyone’s safety!
  • Music Hall now does security screening for all external events like ours.
  • Many of our vendors accept credit cards, but not all of them do, so we recommend bringing cash to the show. There are ATMs in Washington Park across the street if you need one.
  • We love pets, but the only animals allowed inside the show are service animals.
  • Ben Davis of Bad Veins will be spinning tunes all day as our in-house DJ.
  • If you prefer to leisurely peruse all our vendors’ wares, come in the afternoon! Things will slow down after 4 p.m., and our vendors are well-stocked so you don’t have to worry about missing the good stuff!
  • In terms of food at the show, we’ll have food trucks outside and some food vendors inside, plus a cash bar.
  • Music Hall is located in the heart of OTR. You can easily spend a whole day in the neighborhood. The OTR Chamber has an amazing interactive map and great map you can download and explore! There are tons of great shops to check out. Make a day of it on Small Business Saturday!
  • Finally, if you want to scope out the new talent joining Crafty Supermarket for the first time before you arrive, the new vendor spotlight here. Thank you so much for checking out our show and supporting handmade this spring shopping season at the longest standing indie crafty show in Cincinnati. We can’t wait to see you!

Enjoy a show at Music Hall!

  • Take a break from the turkey and stuffing, the whole family can celebrate this Thanksgiving weekend with a love-letter concerto by Schumann and a hearty, brassy helping of Tchaikovsky at Winter Daydreams, November 30th, 8 p.m. and December 1st 2 p.m. Tickets start at $14.
    • Schumann’s first and only Piano Concerto was written for his wife Clara, who performed as the soloist for the piece’s premiere.
    • “A talent in a million” (Gramophone). The CSO welcomes French pianist, Lise de la Salle as soloist for this performance.
    • Tchaikovsky’s rule-bending first symphony, Winter Daydreamsis an early indication of the composer’s mastery of orchestral music.
    • May Festival Music Director Laureate James Conlon conducts.
    • Come for the Supermarket, stay for the concert.

thank you cincinnati

Holy tired Batman! We are still recovering from an awesome show but we wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone who made our holiday edition of Crafty Supermarket a success. Here goes!

  • First thanks to so many shoppers who braved the cold and followed us to a new location! We saw so many familiar faces and met many new fans. We’d love to know how you liked the new venue — if you can spare a minute, please fill out our shopper survey!
  • Thanks you to our 130 indie craft vendors. The talent packed in that room was so inspiring! We had many local favorites and lots of out of town vendors who made the trip to our awesome city. Thanks for choosing us!
  • To our trusty DJ Ben Davis who always plays just the right tunes for shopping, we love you.
  • We totes loved our new tote designed by Jodi Lynn’s Emporium of Doodles and carefully printed by one of our AWESOME sponsors DIY Printing.  Thank you both for being rad.
  • We couldn’t survive without our food vendors! Thanks to Dojo Gelato, Macaron Bar, Frittle Candy, La Terza Coffee, Red Sesame Korean BBQ, Street Chef Brigade, Fireside Pizza, and Best Thing Smokin’.
  • Thank you to our sponsors for supporting this show and believing in the maker movement. All of our sponsors are pretty amazing businesses who help make our city great! Thanks for what you do and for helping us do our thang.
  • We also had tons of help from our volunteers. Thank you for carrying, shopping, refilling water bottles, relieving vendors, eating, dancing, and smiling! We couldn’t do this without you. Special thanks to Kate, Lauren, and Stephanie who were there with us all day.
  • Thanks to UC Rec Center for taking a chance on our crazy show!
  • Last of all let’s all give a special thanks to Grace Dobush (AKA Gayle) for all of the blood, sweat, and tears that she’s poured into Crafty Supermarket over the past 7 years. She is the best partner in crime and things are not going to be the same without her but I (Chris) will do the best I can to carry on this awesome torch. There will definitely be typos in future programs without her watchful eye, very awkward television appearances and more! Grace is moving to Germany in March so if you see her around town, give her a hug, wish her well but also make her feel guilty as hell. :) Here’s a picture of us at dinner after the show feeling delirious.

essential shopper guide to crafty supermarket!

Our big craft show is coming up on Saturday, Nov. 19 — so soon! The most important thing to know about Crafty Supermarket this year is that our holiday show is at a new location this year and happening the weekend before Thanksgiving. Because Music Hall is under renovation, we’re taking over the University of Cincinnati Rec Center’s six-court gymnasium. Here’s all the info you need to know to have a great day of shopping!

Essentials

What: Crafty Supermarket’s Holiday Show (here’s the Facebook event)
When: 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 19, 2016
Where: UC Rec Center, 2820 Bearcat Way, Cincinnati, OH 45221
Cost: Free to the public!

Parking and directions

The UC Rec Center is right next to Nippert Stadium and the Student Life Center in the heart of the University of Cincinnati campus in Corryville. Here is a Google Map. The gymnasium is on the lower level; there is elevator access to the gymnasium.

There are many public transportation options to get to our show. Metro bus lines that have stops by the University of Cincinnati include 17, 19, 24, 31, 46, 51 and 78. There are also multiple RedBike locations around campus.

There are many parking garages on the UC campus, and while we don’t have direct influence on their prices or policies, it’s likely that there will be flat day-rate parking for campus garages. (Day rates on campus are often $5 or $10.) All campus garages are ADA accessible, as is the Rec Center. We definitely encourage you to carpool with friends to save money and ease congestion!

The UC main campus in Corryville is easily accessible from interstates 71 and 75. When plotting your route to the show, we recommend using one of the garages as your target address; it isn’t possible to drive up directly in front of the Rec Center. The Campus Green Garage is the closest one to the Rec Center, and it’s accessible from MLK Drive. You may also be able to find metered street parking near campus. Here’s a map that shows where parking garages and RedBike stations are nearby. The blue star marks the entrance to the Rec Center:

Here’s a closer view of what campus looks like around where the entrance to the Rec Center is:

You can find a clickable map of parking garages on UC’s campus here.

Check out our sweet holiday show vendors!

Time to start making your shopping list: Our holiday show vendor list is live! Thanks to the extra space in the UC Rec Center’s gymnasium, we have 30 more vendors and still more elbow room for shoppers than last year! Our 130 vendors represent a dozen states, from as far away as Georgia and New York, and a third of them are totally new to Crafty Supermarket!

You can RSVP for the show here — it’s totally free for shoppers! — and invite all your friends! Here are some of the cool kids who will be selling at Crafty Supermarket for the first time on Nov. 19:

Are you still accepting vendors?

Applications for the Crafty Supermarket holiday craft show closed Sept. 1. We get more applications for the show than we can accept, so we can’t allow any late applications out of fairness to crafters who applied before the deadline. If a spot opens up from a vendor being unable to attend the show, we select alternates from the people who applied before the deadline.

If you want to apply to be in our next show, be sure to follow us here on the website, on Facebook or via our e-newsletter. We broadcast our upcoming opportunities in all those places! Information about our 2017 spring show will be posted in January.
